Mr. Pentulant and I recently made the trek to Japantown in San Francisco to Maido. (OMG, I love that store.)
Among other things, we came away with this Mitsubishi Pure Malt Mechanical Pencil. It takes .5mm leads. I don’t know much about pencils, but Mr. Pentulant tells me he loves it.

I have seen lots of useful points on your site about desktops. However, I have got the thoughts and opinions that laptops are still less than powerful more than enough to be a good selection if you typically do jobs that require a lot of power, like video croping and editing.
