INK DROP: January 2015 (Spoilers)

PENTULANT 044January 2015 Ink Drop from Goulet Pens

I received January’s Ink Drop from Goulet Pens earlier this week.

I usually super-saturate cotton swabs with ink before swiping across the paper, but this time, I barely barely got the cotton wet with ink. I thinking maybe this gives a more accurate idea of what the ink would look like from a pen? If you have thoughts, I’d love to hear them.

I’m about to reveal the inks from top to bottom. If you don’t want to know, this is the time to look away.

  • De Atramentis Black Edition-Brown – I know, it looks kind of purply to me, too (it’s not just the scan)
  • Rohrer & Klingner Verdigris
  • Noodler’s X-Feather – this stuff is great if you’re looking for an ink that doesn’t feather or spread
  • Private Reserve Ebony Purple – another ink I adore
  • Pelikan Edelstein Tanzanite

And the theme?  Safe for Work

I like most of these inks – going to have to look at the De Atramentis a bit more, though.  What are you thinking? Safe for work?

INK SWAB: 8/365 – Sailor Kobe #18 – Sannomiya Panse

* PURPLE SAILOR 18 SANNOMIYA PANSE 008

I love this ink. The Sailor Kobe line has lots of great colors and (so far) the ones I’ve tried perform well. I got mine on eBay.

If you know of other places to get the Kobe line, please leave a comment below.

I found Candyology over the holidays. I don’t know if that’s a good or bad thing. Mmm…chocolate.

INK SWAB: 6/365 – Platinum Mix-Free Sunny Yellow

* YELLOW PLATINUM MIX-FREE 006Sunny Yellow from the Platinum Mix-Free line is a cheerful orangey yellow ink. I’ve used some of the inks in this line and they have all been well-behaved.

In case you didn’t know, all of the inks in the Mix-Free line can be mixed together to create other shades and colors. Here’s a link to all of the Mix-Free items that Goulet Pens carries. I didn’t know this item existed until just now.

And! In my ongoing quest to get this new website completed sometime before the end of time, I’ve updated my Wish List. I use this list to keep track of the items that have caught my eye.

Annnd! I’m giving away a pretty notebook filled with Tomoe River Paper.  Enter today.

Finally (I know, I know – so chatty), Have you seen Reverenced Writing?

xoxo

INK SWAB: 3/365 – Private Reserve Black Magic Blue

* BLUE PRIVATE RESERVE BLACK MAGIC BLUE

Day three of ink swabs makes me feel like this is really happening.  Only 362 days to go!

Private Reserve’s Black Magic Blue is an ink I’ve reviewed in the past. Spoiler: I love it. The name doesn’t exactly match the color as I see a bunch of purple in both the swab above and the samples in the review.

It’s been awhile since I’ve inked a pen with this ink and seeing it again here is making me hunger (thirst?) for it a bit.

Oh, hey, I’m making progress on getting the new site filled in. There’s a fresh About Me page. Check it out.

INK SWAB: 1/365 – Akkerman Het Zwarte Pad

BLACK AKKERMAN HET ZAARTE PAD

Hey, let’s do a new ink swab every day in 2015, shall we?

I think it will be fun. Some posts will just be the swab – other posts may have more information and maybe even a full-blown review.  We’ll just start and see how it goes.

Starting with PW Akkerman Het Zwarte Pad. It’s black.

Have you tried this ink?  Did you buy it just for the bottle? (I did.)

New Look, Happy New Year, and Winner Winner!

Oh, you guys, It’s been so busy behind the scenes over here.

While everything hasn’t been moved over yet and some of the links are empty, I’m really happy to present the brand new Pentulant website. As part of the new look, I’ve moved everything over to WordPress and I’m feeling confident that this is the correct platform for growth in 2015.

In other words:  FUN TIMES AHEAD!

And while we’re on the topic of new things – Happy New Year! Did you stay up too late last night and are now faced with sleep lines criss-crossing your smiling face? Are you sporting the best case of bed head ever?  Wait. Wait. That’s me!  Happy New Year!

Finally, we have a winner!  Remember way back before sleep lines and bed head? The contest was to guess the number of cotton swabs in the above pictured gallon-sized bag.

The winner gets samples of each of the eight Diamine 150th Anniversary inks!

How many swabs in the bag?  A whopping 729.

And our winner? Jackie! Jackie guessed 725.  I’ve already contacted Jackie about collecting the prize.

Have you tried any of the new inks? I’ve used Tropical Green (not my favorite color, but it writes really well) and Terracotta (a truly unique orange/brown with some great shading).
