INK SWAB: 145/365 – Noodler’s Year of the Golden Pig

SPECIALTY INKS008

Noodler’s Year of the Golden Pig is interesting to me.

I’ve bought the sample from Goulet Pens (from where most of my samples come) twice. The first time, the ink sat for a very long time before I got to it and it was . . . coagulated. Ew.  I bought it again, opened the bottle the same day and . . . same thing.

I’m not sure what is going on, but I know this ink isn’t going into any pens I own.  Do any of you have experience with Year of the Golden Pig? I’d love to hear all about it.

  1. I kind of love this ink, but I acknowledge that it is a pain in the neck to use. I’ve had it semi-solidify in a preppy highlighter, but I let it sit unused for a few weeks. It ran for a few months pretty well, but that was when I was using it everyday. Once it has become chunky, I save it in a vial to paint with it later – add water, mash it somewhat smooth, and paint. I tried loading it in a water brush (normally where the water would go) and it wasn’t nearly airtight enough for the job – it got chunky practically overnight. But still…where else would you get a bulletproof neon ink (besides a sharpie)?
